This category relates to the trips that we have done on various canals that we have kayaked. It contains blog posts covering our paddles on these canals together with guidance relating generally to each of the canals that we have kayaked.
We have paddled a variety of canals and they are all quite different. Canal kayaking is the safest form of patterning you can do since canals are generally flat water cruising on relatively protected waterways which are not subject to tides or currents.
Most canals tend to have locks you have to portage around although the number of locks and their frequency varies quite a lot from canal to canal.
One of the highlights of canal kayaking is of course the frequency of waterside pubs that you can stop at as you paddle along the canal!
